they say lightning never strikes twice.

and they're wrong. i once met a man who was struck by lightning not once, not even twice, but THREE times. and i'm sure i don't have to tell that the chances of that actually occurring lie in a very small decimal somewhere between slim and none. my thoughts wander back to that man at times when i feel something incredibly unlikely has happened to me- times like today.

however, unlike today, the events that generally bring this man's image to the forefront of my mind are generally unpleasant. but today i am ecstatic to say that in my life, lightning has struck twice. a rapid, brilliant flash of light has raced into my life, out of nowhere, for a second time.

that's right... i'm going back to italy! words really can't capture how ecstatic i am to be going back to my second family in sicily. i leave saturday and will be returning in roughly two months, and of course i'll be filling you all in on my daily life there through this blog. just like a lightning strike, each trip will be completely individual and i look forward to documenting and sharing this with you guys.

see ya on the other side cuppycakes!

  2. Here's a weird piece of trivia... lightning rarely strikes the same exact location twice but once a person has been stuck by lightning, your chances of being struck again rise dramatically! Something about the ions changing your cells or something. You should Google it. It's fascinating.
