albert crombey and fish

with my parisian adventure (sadly) behind me, i'm spending the rest of time abroad with the girls' family in france. playing pétanque (bocci),

looking at the almost unfathomable suburban perfection around me,

receiving bouquets of flowers from sweet little girls,

and having conversations like the following:

francoise: you've heard of abercrombie and fitch?
me: huh?
francoise: abercrombie and fitch.
me: what?
stefan: it's a type of clothes.
me: and what is it called again?
francoise: abercrombie and fitch.
me: uh, i don't think so.
*alexia brings out a jacket with "abercrombie and fitch" across it*
me: OOH! abercrombie and fitch! of course!

now, this may not make much sense to you, unless you take into account the french accent, which means the conversation sounded like this:

francoise: you've heard of albert (al-bear) crombey and fish (feesh)?
me: huh?
francoise: albert crombey and fish.
me: what?
stefan: it's a type of closes. (but by now i know this to mean "clothes").
me: and what is it called again?
francoise: albert crombey and fish.
me: uh, i don't think so.
me, upon seeing the jacket: OH! abercrombie and fitch! of course!
*everyone laughs uproariously over the accent difficulty*

altogether a splendid time.
